ABOUT ME
I grew up in Richmond, Virginia where I attended Saint Gertrude High School, an all-girls catholic school. There, I learned two things: my love of sisterhood and my love of leadership – which would later foreshadow my term as sorority president. After graduating high school, I knew I wanted to be in DC since the opportunities are endless. I originally enrolled at AU as a Psychology major, hoping to become a social worker. But after being in the lab more than I was in the classroom, I was losing interest in my original curiosity: theory. While I was shopping for a new major, I went through sorority recruitment. I ended up getting paired up randomly with PR majors and after learning what kind of classes you take as a PR major, I knew it was best suited for my traits and I was ready to switch.
My first internship experience was at a small firm, Etre Communications, in my hometown. I worked on mostly healthcare clients and got my feet wet with media training and media lists. Shortly after, I began working as a Stylist at Tuckernuck, a high-end boutique-style store in Georgetown. After catching the attention of the headquarters, I soon started as a Brand Marketing Intern in the office. This is where I learned all about influencer marketing, PR packages, campaign analysis, and event planning. I took away a lot of valuable experience and a lot of fabulous clothing. This past summer, I interned for another small agency located in my hometown, Commonwealth PR. This is where I truly honed my skills in pitching, media lists, and media monitoring. I now work for ChangeMakers USA, a crisis and reputation management firm. I’m learning PR in a whole different way by utlizing issues reporting and media tracking.
